Cambodia’s Koh Rong Archipelago is still mostly overlooked by luxury travel, in favour of Thailand’s islands a little further west. Song Saa was Cambodia’s first, and remains its leading, all-villa luxury resort, and it was built the wrong way round: the Song Saa Foundation existed first, restoring a degraded reef and rainforest, and the resort was created to fund it. Every one of the twenty-four villas is designed around that same relationship with the island — biophilic, built from reclaimed timber and driftwood, and set either in the jungle canopy, on the ocean’s edge, or on stilts directly above the water. Song Saa is a certified B Corporation, and the only resort of its kind on this stretch of the Gulf of Thailand.
