Tented lodges on a reclaimed organic farm, at the edge of Gal Oya National Park.
Wild Glamping Gal Oya sits in the historic village of Rathugala, close to Gal Oya National Park and home to the Veddahs, the last of Sri Lanka’s indigenous people. A 30-acre site, once abandoned and deforested, now an organic farm bordering the Rambakan Oya. The lodges were built by the indigenous community from local materials, and days are spent exploring the forest alongside its original dwellers.

Many of the vegetables served are grown on the property’s own organic farm. Meals are taken in the main restaurant, looking over the pool to the misty mountains, or out on the pool and river decks.

Rathugala, near Gal Oya National Park, Sri Lanka
Savanna forest and mountains in the village of Rathugala, close to Gal Oya National Park. The site borders the Rambakan Oya, with Senanayake Samudra, Sri Lanka’s largest lake, within reach for boat safaris.

Activities
Safaris, treks and time with the Veddah.
Days here are shaped by the land and the people who live on it. Jeep and boat safaris through Gal Oya, Nilgala and Hathpotha, treks to ancient ruins and mountain summits, and jungle walks led by guides from the indigenous community. Closer to the lodges, the farm, the lake and the village.
