We are asked often which Baltic properties actually justify a dedicated wellness trip, rather than simply having a spa attached to a hotel. Palanga Life Balance SPA Hotel is one of the clearest answers we can give, built entirely around a single mineral water source drawn from deep beneath the pines. You can find it in our collection.
The source: mineral water aged 250,000 years
Beneath the hotel sits a well of mineral water, rich in dissolved minerals and aged 250,000 years, which feeds every pool, bath and spa ritual on site. It fills the Roman pool, the indoor and outdoor baths, and the twenty-metre swimming pool, and underpins the treatments across the spa's full circuit, part of a wider Baltic balneology tradition found along this coast.
Three pools, four saunas, one thermal circuit
The thermal facilities are built for a full day of movement between temperatures. The outdoor heated pool and the indoor twenty-metre pool both sit at 26 to 28 degrees, alongside a Roman pool at 45 centimetres deep, and two jacuzzis with massage currents extend the circuit further. Four sauna types complete the offering: a standard sauna, an eco sauna, a steam sauna, and a log or Kelo sauna, the traditional Baltic wood-fired sauna style, with its own weekly schedule. A cedar-wood relaxation room fitted with water beds gives guests somewhere to rest fully between rituals, and guests also have full access to a fitted fitness gym overlooking the pine treeline, included with every room category.

Eleven retreat programmes, from a single day to six nights
What separates Palanga Life Balance from a hotel that simply has a good spa is the structure behind it. Eleven wellness retreat programmes are available, each built around a specific focus, from a restorative Day Spa with no overnight stay through to Antistress Mode, a clinical-grade six-night therapeutic week with twelve targeted treatments designed to lower chronic stress markers and restore sleep quality. In between sit programmes such as the Detox SPA Package, four nights of specialised mud applications and therapeutic wraps, and A Luxury Escape for Two, two nights combining a shared spa ritual with fine dining for couples. Every programme is quoted on a bespoke basis and subject to availability.
Frequently asked questions
What makes the spa at Palanga Life Balance different from a typical hotel spa?
In our experience, the difference is the single mineral water source behind everything. Rather than a generic wellness menu, every pool, bath and much of the treatment list draws on the same 250,000-year-old mineral water, giving the whole spa a coherent identity that most hotel spas simply do not have.
Do we need to book a full retreat programme, or can we use the spa on a day basis?
Neither is required over the other. The Day Spa programme gives guests a restorative day-use experience with a full-body massage and unlimited pool and sauna access, with no overnight stay needed. Guests staying at the hotel on a standard room booking also have access to the pools, baths and gym as part of every room category.
What is the Kelo sauna, and when can we use it?
The Kelo sauna is one of four sauna types at the property, a traditional Baltic wood-fired style built from aged pine. It runs on its own schedule, available Sunday to Friday from 17:00 and on Saturday from 15:00, alongside the sauna, eco sauna and steam sauna, which follow the spa centre's standard opening hours.
